What I do at Mpilonhle
In am involved with all aspects related to the management of the organization which includes:
1) defining and regularly reviewing the structure and staff responsibilities of the organization to ensure an efficient and effective workforce;
2) establishing a distinct and transparent outcome oriented organizational culture;
3) supervising finance, grant management, budgeting, procurement, human resources, and general administrative tasks.
Mpilonhle has a lean and mean matrix structure with no middle management. Every staff member has a well defined role and responsibility and is accountable for their actions and decisions. We encourage our staff to be creative, take initiative and learn from mistakes and wrong decisions. As a team leader my job is to ensure that we operate as high performing teams with good communication structures and not too many meetings.
An important part of my job is capacity development of the staff through individual mentoring and training in order to create a sustainable organization in a rural setting with very capable, motivated and committed employees.
