What I do at Mpilonhle:

I am the Social Worker; my responsibility is to assist orphans and vulnerable children with access to services and support to targeted schools.

My duties involve the following:

Offering counseling to students who are infected/affected by HIV/AIDS, referred by VCT counselors and by the nurse. Giving support to orphans and referring them to the Department of Welfare in order to access to foster care grants. Render counseling services to students who are physically, sexually and emotionally abused and decide on intervention plan within 24 hours. Offer counseling and support to students who are affected by substance abuse and make relevant referrals to specialized agencies e.g. SANCA. Conduct home visits to assess the extent of problems presented by students if required.

Something about me:

I was born in Nelspruit in the Mpumalanga Province 20something years ago. I have two loving parents and two younger brothers who are very supportive I came to Kwa –Zulu Natal to further my studies at the University of Zululand. I have worked with a diverse group of people. I strongly believe that working with young children can change the whole world into a better place. They are unique individuals with their own perceptions and only need support to conquer the world.
