In Memory of Sthe Miya

It was with great sadness that Mpilonhle had to say goodbye to Sthe Miya at the end of January.

The news of his passing came as a great shock to everyone who knew and loved him.

He was known for his quick wit and a warm heart. Sthe Miya was extremely proud of his work as a VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Testing) Social Worker at his host organization, Mpilonhle. While his life was tragically cut short, there is comfort in the knowledge that he spent his life serving others. At one point during his involvement with the Mpilonhle Mobile Health and Education Units, Michael would provide counseling and assistance to up to fifteen teenagers and/or community members each day. His caring nature and desire to make a difference resulted in hundreds of children receiving social grants, identification documents and professional support and advice regarding their HIV positive status.

He will be missed by everyone at Mpilonhle. We would like to send condolences to his family.
