Mpilonhle - A Good Life

Programmes

Group Health Education

For six hours each year, students participate in interactive group sessions covering health promotion and education. These sessions are led by a trained health educator, are adapted to the age of the students and focus on strategies for preventing HIV, including:

  • messages on the importance of delaying sex
  • being faithful to a single partner
  • practicing safe sex, including using condoms if sexually active
  • being tested for HIV.
  • Substance abuse
  • Eating healthy

Sessions also address reducing the stigma associated with HIV and living with HIV if infected.

The health education materials were developed by Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), an international non-profit with experience in HIV prevention. View www.edc.org for more.
