Youth Day

Mpilonhle teamed up with the Mtuba Football Academy to host a Youth Day Junior Soccer Tournament on 16 June.  While teams competed in football matches, Mpilonhle offered services to parents and spectators.  In addition, each team received a health education course while waiting for their matches to begin.  Approximately 300 players from throughout the Umkhanyakude District and beyond played in the tournament, ranging in ages from 10 to 17.  Bringing together youth through sports empowers players to take control of their lives and live a healthy life.  The event was meant to show the importance of VCT to youth as a way to continue living a healthy life. 

 Mpilonhle’s involvement in sports is part of an ongoing program to reach people who may not otherwise have access to the important services of VCT and health education as many of the players do not attend Mpilonhle schools.  Mpilonhle realizes the importance of sports for the youth and will continue to support players.
